After having its first two games of the 2020-21 canceled due to COVID-19 concerns, the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Men's Basketball team will officially tip off its season in Las Vegas on Saturday when it faces top-ranked Baylor in the #VegasBubble at T-Mobile Arena.
ipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT. The game will be streamed live on a pay-per-view basis through FloHoops.com with fans able to listen to the game on KPEL 96.5-FM.
Louisiana, picked to finish second in the Sun Belt Conference West Division and third overall, returns to Las Vegas after splitting a pair of games last season in the MGM Resorts Main Event. The game against Baylor (No. 1 Coaches Poll | No. 2 Associated Press) marks the first-ever contest for Louisiana against a top-ranked opponent and its ninth against a team ranked in the top-5.
"We are excited to finally have an opportunity to play, especially against the No. 1 or 2 ranked team in the country," head coach Bob Marlin said. "Our guys have practiced, finished exams and are eager to play against another opponent.
"Baylor has four returning starters off a 26-4 season that could have ended in the Final Four if not for COVID-19. They have two Louisiana players on the roster (Jared Butler and Mark Vital) that we are very familiar with. Baylor was one of the top defensive teams in the country last season."
The Ragin' Cajuns will face a yet-to-be-named opponent in their second game out west on Sunday before returning to face New Orleans on Wednesday at Lakefront Arena.
