I hope Napier doesn't take the job for his own sake. USCe is a dead end.

I like Billy and I think he is an excellent coach and a better human being. That said, if he decides to leave this time, I would not blame him. After all money talks. I also have confidence in Dr. Maggard, who has shown to be an excellent evaluator of talent. With the players that can come back next season, many up and comers would want a shot at coaching this team. In the meantime, I am not going to fret about it.

I agree, your point has a lot of weight. Gonna be interesting.
His home state is Georgia. He played college football at Furman which is in South Carolina.

Who’s to say we don’t lose both of them almost on the same day. I imagine that some schools are questioning their AD more than the coaches. After all the present coaching staff is probably their responsibility.

I’m not worried, but it’s something that might happen.

Both those states are mirror images of each other. Lafayette is great, but totally different. His wife might be tired of the annual hurricanes.

Liberty's Hugh Freeze, Louisiana's Billy Napier and Coastal Carolina's Jamey Chadwell are expected to be among the top targets to replace Muschamp,
I don’t think Hugh Freeze has completed his penance yet.
    Maybe still
    A bit toxic.
I really think it is Napier.

    UL Football Re: Muschamp FIRED

    Football Scoop:

“FootballScoop lists Ragin Cajuns football coach Billy Napier as one of the top candidates for the newly vacant heach coach job at the University of South Carolina, according to the website FootballScoop.com.

The site says Napier is one of five early candidates for the position, which became vacant on Sunday, following the dismissal of former South Carolina head coach Will Muschamp, one day after the Gamecocks fell to the Ole Miss Rebels, 59-42, which dropped them to 2-5 on the season.

Napier, in his third season at UL, has guided the Cajuns to an overall record of 25-11, including an 11-3 record last year, setting a single-season school record for wins, a 7-1 record this season and the school's first Top 25 ranking in decades.

Last year, Napier was discussed as a candidate for head coach at Mississsippi State, Ole Miss and Baylor.

In January, Napier signed a two-year contract extension, to extend his contract through the 2025 season.

Napier is currently the highest paid coach in the Sun Belt Conference, at $880,000 plus incentive bonuses.

Also on FootballScoop’s list: Coastal Carolina’s Jamey Chadwell, Liberty’s Hugh Freeze, Alabama offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian and Oklahoma assistant Shane Beamer.”
