Just signed off of the Zoom QB Club call. Coach Napier does not expect an easy game on Saturday. This is not just Coach speak as he levels with us in a way he does not with the media. South Alabama just held Coastal to the fewest points they have put up all season. Physically, they have lots of talent. For fans looking for blowouts to be satisfied, they may be hungry all season. I for one appreciate a team who keeps fighting and stays focused when things become challenging. That type of team will be needed for the Cajuns to be successful on Saturday. Coach also did push the military appreciation aspect of Saturday in his closing comments.

South gave us all we wanted last year over there. We will need to play very well to beat them.

    I predict a game within 10 and a Cajuns W.

Just like pretty much all of our other games.

  5. UL Football Cajuns' keys to success against Jaguars begin with stopping the run

It didn’t take very long for the Ragin' Cajuns defense to get the message when preparation began for Saturday’s 1 p.m. home contest against South Alabama.

Cajuns defensive coordinator Patrick Toney posted the Jaguars’ rushing totals against UL defenses for the past two seasons.

  6. UL Football Cajuns steamroll South Alabama to earn third straight trip to Sun Belt title game

The No. 25-ranked UL Ragin’ Cajuns played the most dominant first half of the season.

The result was coach Billy Napier’s club achieving one of its major goals of the season by securing a third straight trip to the Sun Belt Conference championship game with a 38-10 win over South Alabama on Saturday at Cajun Field.

  7. UL Football #25 Louisiana Clinches Sun Belt West Division with 38-10 Victory Over South Alabama

For the third consecutive season, No. 25 Louisiana Football claimed the Sun Belt Conference West Division crown after using a dominant performance to defeat South Alabama, 38-10, on Saturday afternoon at Cajun Field.

Entering the contest with a 1.5-game lead over the Jaguars, the Ragin' Cajuns (7-1, 5-1 Sun Belt) used a 28-point first half and 506 yards of total offense to take an insurmountable lead in the division standings.

Senior quarterback Levi Lewis was a huge factor in the offensive production, throwing for 252 yards and three touchdowns, just the fourth time in his career that he has thrown from three scores in a single game. Peter LeBlanc caught a team-high five of Lewis' 21 completions, while Jalen Williams, Errol Rogers, Jr. and Trey Ragas each caught a touchdown pass.

On the ground, Chris Smith matched a career high with 99 yards and his first rushing touchdown of the season, a 22-yard score, while Ragas carried the ball 10 times for 78 yards, moving him ahead of Alonzo Harris (3,330) for fourth all-time in career rushing with 3,336 yards.

Fellow running back Elijah Mitchell toted the ball 15 times for 61 yards and a touchdown, his sixth of the season.

Louisiana's defense was absolutely stellar, allowing a season-low 10 points and limiting South Alabama to just 268 yards of total offense. The defense finished the ballgame with nine break ups, 7.0 tackles-for-loss, 3.0 sacks and one interception.

Safety Percy Butler led the charge with his first career interception and first career sack to complement a team-high six tackles and a forced fumble, while fellow defensive back Mekhi Garner was credited with five tackles, 1.0 sack and four pass breakups, making him the first Ragin' Cajun with four breakups since Lance Kelley did so against FIU on Sept. 24, 2011.

It was a dream start for Louisiana, going ahead 14-0 just 6:32 into the opening quarter after a five-yard touchdown catch by senior Jalen Williams, who finished the game with two receptions for 24 yards, and a 22-yard rushing touchdown by Smith.

Rogers, Jr., extended the lead to 21-3 at the 7:54 mark of the second quarter, hauling in a three-yard, side-arm throw from Lewis to cap off an 11-play, 75-yard drive.

South Alabama (3-5, 2-3 Sun Belt) found the end zone for the first time with 4:04 to play when Kawaan Baker brought in a seven-yard pass from Desmond Trotter. Louisiana answered quickly though, using an explosive 47-yard rush by Smith to set up a five-yard score from Mitchell, pushing the lead to 28-10.

Kenneth Almendares scored the only points of the third quarter, knocking through his third consecutive field goal, a 25-yard make, to pad the lead.

With an already comfortable advantage entering the final period, Ragas put the cherry on top of a stellar performance by hauling in a pass from Lewis and tip-toeing down the sideline and into the end zone from 25-yards out to secure the 38-10 victory.

No. 25 Louisiana wraps up its three-game homestand on Saturday, Nov. 21, when it hosts Central Arkansas. Kickoff in the first-ever meeting between the two programs is slated for 1 p.m. CST and will be broadcast on ESPN+.

  8. UL Football Balanced offense helps No. 25 Ragin' Cajuns run away from South Alabama

For perhaps the first time this season, it all came together – quick – on offense the No. 25 Ragin’ Cajuns.

    The reward?

Behind a 38-10 win over South Alabama on Saturday at Cajun Field, UL (7-1, 5-1) won the Sun Belt Conference’s West Division and a spot in the SBC title game for a third straight year.

Looks like he didn’t level with y’all because we beat them silly like a red headed stepchild.

Just teasing ya Mike. Well kinda!

  11. UL Football 12 different Cajuns caught passes Saturday

He may not have looked like it in Saturday's win, but UL coach Billy Napier said he's pleased with the consistency and stability of the Cajuns' wide receiving corps.

Since day one of August camp, quite possibly the most discussed issue for the Cajuns has been the wide receiver depth chart.

I agree i was glad to see them give smith more carries. Also think ragas should have close to same amount of carries as Mitchell, that run with 2 stiff arms was nasty. Also the catch and run on sideline was pretty impressive as well

Today was not a case of us giving the Jags too much credit pre game-it was a case of the Cajuns playing at an extremely high level.

  14. UL Football Cajuns finally deliver dominant performance so many have been waiting for in South Alabama win

The UL Ragin’ Cajuns have enjoyed a banner season so far in 2020.

They upset Iowa State on the road in the opener and really haven’t looked back since then.
