UL Basketball Joe Charles signs with MBB Cajuns

The big man from Carencro honored his 2 year commitment today. Not sure why we did not promote it on social media like some of our sports pushed their signee news today. Bet that comes tomorrow. However Channel 3 sports just had a feature on his signing. Young man complimented our coaching staff on the recruiting process with his comments.

Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Men's Basketball coach Bob Marlin didn't have to go far to ink his first member of the 2021 signing class as Carencro native Joe Charles signed a National Letter of Intent on Wednesday.

    Great update.

    Thanks.

I have to admit I don't know much about him, but I like the way "big man" reads.

Joe is 6’8” and 205 lbs. it is said he can be a factor in his team’s success on both ends of the floor. Led Carencro to the state title his freshman year and semi finals his sophomore year. He missed the last half of his junior year due to injury. Prior to that he was averaging 19 points and 8 rebounds per game. I don’t know the details of his injury situation. He looked fine in the KATC clip this evening. Note he committed to us after his sophomore year which was months prior to his injury.

Don’t know who else offered him. Since he received an offer from us after his sophomore year, we may have cut off a lot of the competition.

He's taller than that now. Had torn his ACL last year.

Watched him in the Sunkist last year. Made some nice plays but not overly impressive. Potential is there with his size. He kinda reminds me of Tyren Johnson coming out of high school. Hopefully he packs on some pounds
