You could be right in that prediction of Thomas replacing Wesley if Trajan is not 100 percent. Kentrell Garnett is a walkon from Baton Rouge who could be another challenger for the back up point guard spot. I was told he turned down a scholarship to Southern in order to walk on here. His HS basketball bio is impressive.

I don’t put JUCO guys in the same category as four year school transfers as they all move on after 2 years. Our top 8 to start the year will have 2 transfers, 2 Juco guys, and 4 HS guys. Not sure how that compares to other programs but I would guess that is not unusual.
I can’t recall a season Bob didn’t rely heavily on transfers and juco players. I suppose there’s a couple.

Because his recruiting has been awful outside of a few. Payton, Mbamalu, Stove, Washington, Shepherd, and I'd say a couple on this years team are about all he has hit on as freshman.

Russell and Wilson I presume you are the ones referring to who we hit on as freshman on this year's squad. Time will tell on Richards. More optimistic on him than Thomas simply because of size. Unfortunate the Julien injury situation has prevented him from being a hit to date. Hopefully the same thing does not happen to Joe Thomas who signed yesterday.

The last coach who did not have transfers was Fletcher. Did you forget Evans had numerous transfers--Southall, Mitchell, Greene, Hamilton, to name a few

The issue we've had is not with incoming transfers. I'm always willing to improve our roster if its the right move by bringing in others. The issue I've had and what concerns me is the number of guys who have exited our program and continue to do so, many of them not necessarily voluntary. I can understand losing a guy here and there due to wanting more playing time but when you are bringing someone in and then asking them to leave the next year, you have to question some things.

He’s leaned heavily, yet he’s without much success.

It’s one thing to rely on transfers. It’s another to be anything more than mediocre.

Technically the season hasn't started yet, but I prefer career judging in the off season.

Marty did recruit a few JUCO players however. Guys like Carroll Boudreaux, Cedric Mackeon, and Shawn Griggs helped win a couple of championships. I also seem to remember Michael Allen (one of the best players we have had here) playing three years but coming from a JUCO. Robert Lee used some guys academically ineligible their first year. One of those, LaRyan Gary is a successful coach in his own right today. There is no perfect way to build a roster.

Most who have left recently have left involuntarily. Reasons have varied but it does show we missed on some guys in the past. This past year the guys who left have been replaced by guys we simply think are more talented. Time will tell if that analysis is correct.

Didn’t Michael Allen transfer from Kentucky?
