A controversial bill will be introduced when the legislative session gets underway at the end of the month. It's an amendment limiting the age of an elected official to 70. The amendment is being proposed by State Representative Rickey Hardy. He says if you've been in office for a while, once you hit the age of 70 you've served your time.

Hardy says it's not because 70 years olds are incapable of doing their job, he says it's to allow room for young people to run for office. Lafayette City Marshal, Earl "Nickey" Picard disagrees. Picard is 78. He says why give up his position to a young person, when he loves doing his job. "I think you need to look at the individual and I'm not stagnant. I'm always looking to make it better, and I'm energized. I can't wait to get here in the morning."
