I definitely understand where you're coming from with this, but I would say that he put the offense on his back to win the bowl game vs. Miami-OH. I'd also argue that the reason the SBC Championship game was suddenly close was Levi shouldering offensive production for the attempted comeback. He threw for over 350 and 4 TDs. But...too little, too late.

I do agree mostly with your views on the type of QB that LL is. He needs to keep running more, and he needs to become more secure with throwing the ball like he was last season (only 4 INTs). With last year's Levi Lewis, we'd currently be sitting at 5-0 because there likely wouldn't have been that costly INT vs. Coastal.

All that said, do you think Chandler Fields is the real deal? Do we currently have a QB on our roster who could give us a better passing attack, but at the same time still be able to maneuver in the pocket and be at least a semi-threat to pull the ball and run? One thing Levi has been able to do for us is avoid sacks and help extend plays at times when protection breaks down.

And that QB still accounted for 40% of their offense in that game.

I have probably said this 100 times on this site....good players don't sit the bench at UL. They play early and often at almost every position. You would be hard pressed to find more than a handful of players historically who sat the bench for a couple of years and then made an impact here.
If one of the QBs was really pressing Lewis, he would be getting every 4 or 5th series just like Lewis did 2 years ago. Let's just hope one of the backups is the real deal, because it is much more likely we have zero difference makers at QB then several.

Levi’s is not playing as well as he was at the end of last year. But neither are the o line, receivers, or running backs. Levi is great at getting out of sacks. This is his best trait as a QB.

IMHO the regression we’ve seen in the running and passing game are a result of a weaker O line, the loss of a couple of dudes at WR who could go up and GET the ball, and then of course Levi not playing as well. All 3 are interconnected. I think Levi gets too much of the blame but that comes with being QB.

Levi gets the blame for missing ridiculously easy passes every single game. Terrible passes to RBs in the flats is the greatest example. It’s not like the RBs are dropping passes that are on the money. Most of those have been on critical 3rd downs.

When we stay ahead of the chains he has been a solid QB. But championship quarterbacks make the biggest plays at the biggest moments. He did that at times last year. He has yet to come through this season and it has been very clear.

With that being said, his play this year hasn’t cost us a game yet. The Coastal loss falls squarely on the shoulders of the defense. They were 10/16 on 3rd or 4th down. They dominated the time of possession and kept our offense off of the field.

I mostly agree, but the interception was a huge play in that game. We had opportunities after that, but it was definitely a game changing play.

Yes the interception sealed the game, but they weren’t stopping us all game.

I guess the 10 times the defense failed to get off the field on 3rd and 4th down had no part in “sealing the game.”

Did you not read any of my post regarding this game?

You obviously didn’t because I have stated over and over again that Lewis isn’t why we lost. But that interception did end our chances to win.

Yes, I have read everything you have posted, including this: The Coastal loss falls squarely on the shoulders of the defense.

As it was not a pick 6 which means the defense had an opportunity to defend and we got the ball back and an opportunity to score, I am somewhat baffled by the position that the INT “sealed the game” or “ended our chances to win.”

    That’s it.
