This was often the prophecy during the Name wars. It looks to be coming true. Need a whole season of it in the top 25

hope we finally turned the corner, but i seem to notice more correct name usage when we lose. when we win we are a bigger threat and then they double down on the name as its their last gasp at holding us back

From reading all the different media recognition we’re Louisiana which is great. Locally we’re referenced as UL. Nationally we seem to be abbreviated as ULL. Maybe I’m splitting hairs but wish we’d go with LA as our abbreviation so everything synchs up.

i notice a similar effect in hoops march madness, they almost never hype up a potential cinderella that has a g5 football program. and even when they do hupe up any cinderella they sure slam on the breaks fast once the final four starts or they play duke, whichever comes first

...and having a hot coach who wants to stay until the end. He could have jumped and decided to stay. Napier has been such a great coach for the school.

Gary Patterson of TCU is a great example of a coach loyally staying with the University, reaping all the benefits. Without coach Patterson's success and his remaining in place there's no way TCU advances from CUSA to MWC to Big East to Big 12. Their geography helped their cause too. Coach Napier is disciplined, is a builder. If he goes on to greener pastures some day, his dream job, folks would be sad but supportive. All we can do is support him and his program as much as possible. Who knows he could decide to keep extending his tenure here like he did last year.

That would be great. But for that to happen, we all need to up our RCAF contributions and recruit other donors!

There were many of us who kept trying to say that. There would be in-game threads for a game where we are getting the ____ kicked out of us, laying a complete egg, and there would seem to be more _____ing about what we were being called rather than disgust at the actual play on the field.

Hopefully those days are far behind us and don't reappear on this message board again. You are correct, though, need to make it a season right now. This is our chance, but Cajun Disaster Syndrome is high in many of us, myself included. I keep fearing a "typical USL collapse".

Well...unfortunately, all of our head coaches have stayed until the end. That's part of the problem. Hopefully Napier will be the first to show you can move to a coveted P5 head job from UL.

but the great ones turn the position into a p5 position, not leave for one

  12. UL Football Re: Question

Not since Bobby Bowden and that was a long time ago. Tex Christian after all was once part of the SWC one of the power conferences before being split to form the Big XII

Louisville was a long progression over several coaches. Pittsburgh was a two time national champion. I guess VaTech was like Fl State. Of course Virginia was sponsoring them hard. Unlike LSU or Arkansas would ever do.
