LSU is keeping Johnson. He's not going anywhere. This is one of the more ridiculous rumors I've heard in a while. Do any of the Tigger fans remember what he did with talent last year? You pushed the champs to the brink. This year, he had Taz Mitchell, and no one else. He signed a big contract, he had a down year. It happens. He's not going anywhere. Plus, if Floyd had his eyes on Baton Rouge, he wouldn't have driven the extra 60 miles to interview in Lafayette.
From what I hear from Dr. Bowie, one of the people in the committee who is compiling the list for our AD, he is saying that the front runner on their list is Bill Kennedy. They also think Floyd is going to take a job back on the west coast. Butch Pierre was at the bottom of the list because of a lack of head coaching experience. To me, If they would just give Pierre a chance, I bet he would wow us all. Thats just my opinion though
I'm no so sure. They are rumors just like everything else flying around the coaching search.
Also, the Johnson "rumor" is more due to his supposed unhappiness, not anyone at LSU wanting to get rid of him.
It would be more fueled by his desire to get back to the West Coast.
Would someone please explain to me or give me their opinion as to Why hasn't Butch Pierre been a Head Coach in any Division. It would seem to me he knows he needs some Head Coaching experience to be a head coach at a Mid Level university. I personally like the idea of concentrating on getting a Coach with Head Coaching experience. Hasn't this guy been around college basketball 20 + years and no Head Coaching experience. If he is such a good recruiter, to me that would be a A+ for a head coaching job.
GEAUX CAJUNS.
This is the question that the university would like to know the answer to. This is the major barrier to hiring a Butch Pierre. Of course, there's a lot more that goes into running a program than just recruiting. Truly, nobody here knows the answer to that question but there has to be a logical reason as to why he's been passed up for quite a while.
According to Bird of Paradise's blog of yesterday, Floyd and his wife want to stay in Louisiana as both have parents living in the state. I presume this info came from the interview. If he wants to go back to the West Coast, that means he may have lied in the interview.
