NCAA ruled today that the basketball season can begin on Nov. 25. That is the day before Thanksgiving. Teams will be allowed to play 24 or 25 games unless they are in an MTE which allows more games (usually it is 2 to 3 more). To qualify for the NCAA, you must play at least 13 games and four non conference games appears to be a prerequisite for the tourney. Full squad practices can begin Oct. 14 with some type of pre practice preparation allowed a few days before that. However, most teams have had some form of activity since late July. As far as the Cajuns are concerned, the later start could result in a financial hit. First game was to be at Texas on November 10. School was set to receive 90 grand for that game. No idea if that game can be rescheduled. Other money games were at Houston and VCU. No idea about those either. Other road games were at UNO and USM. Home non conference was supposed to be UNO and La. Tech. I presume all of those are up in the air now unless they were scheduled after Nov. 25.
