Local swimmers have a lot to be proud of after a successful weekend at the 2010 Louisiana Short Course Swimming State Championships held at the UNO Lakefront Arena in New Orleans. The City of Lafayette Aquatics (COLA) took 52 swimmers to the meet. Out of 25 teams, COLA racked up 1660 points to take 8th place overall. There were several state finalists, at least 20 top 3 finishers, and one swimmer can call herself a state champion! Meridith Boudreaux placed 1st in the 15-16 girls 400 IM with a time of 4:33.59 smashing her previous time by 11 seconds!
Crescent City Swim Club in New Orleans placed 3rd overall. Second place honors went to the City of Shreveport Swim Team. Crawfish Aquatics out of Baton Rouge was the top team this year with 99 swimmers. Congratulations to the Acadiana swimmers on Crawfish Aquatics satellite team here in Lafayette.
