LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) - A lawsuit claiming that pipeline dredging has hurt Atchafalaya Basin crawfish trappers is now in federal court.
The suit alleges that ridges left along dredged areas, called spoil banks, have created stagnant, dead areas of water in the area known as Buffalo Cove.
The suit was filed in 2004 by the Louisiana Crawfish Producers Association West. Court documents show it was moved to federal court March 1.
