Here's a newsflash for you...this kid did not have a "committable" offer to the school to the east!! Believe that or not but it was more to do with him pursuing them more than they persued him!
So why then was he told that he'd be a grayshirt and didn't receive a scholarship? Here's you're answer...attrition!! They were waiting for others ahead of him to commit and come through in the end.
Since you read DandyDon, you'll know that he ranks ONLY kids from the state of Louisiana right?!?!?! Right?!?!?!

Now it should make you happy that this kid will now have the proverbial chip on his shoulder towards the school to the east. That ought to put a smile on your face and make your day.

Oh...and I'M NOT BASHING THE KID!!! You have your opinion and I have mine!

OK what am I missing here? I mentioned that Dandy Don had him listed as the #11 player in the state....

Maybe the LSU Scout site lied. They said he was a commit since summer camp 2009.

I never said anything degrading towards LSU in my post. maybe you're the one with the chip on his shoulder????

That's a great way at looking at it!

A differing opinion is one thing. You however have been consistantly negative about everything regarding UL. Seems like the only time you show up is to defend your tiggers.

He wasn't a fall back kid when he was offered a full ride early on. Secondly, once he committed and his parents refuse to let any other program talk to him, exactly how would he have any other offers? Before he committed to LSU, he had offers from UL, Tulsa, and others. There is always more to the story then, oh I guess he wasn't that good after all. This kid was named outstanding Def prospect at the same Scout/Underarmour camp as two other LSU DL signees.

You are correct, he did not have a commitable offer. He had signed a memorandum of interest but no LOI. He was offered early by LSU but they sort of strung him along in the process. The step-father didn't help and has been the only and biggest hurdle to this whole process. He'd be signed and on scholarship come fall had his father not gotten involved.

Bottom line: he is as talented as advertised. He has a great motor and he's a legit 230 or more and has the frame to put on another 15-20 pounds. He is an extremely good athlete. The problem with him for LSU is that some apparently wanted him at OLB and others at DE. He is a little small for what LSU likes on the DL but they liked his football IQ and motor. He will make an impact immediately here. There is no doubt about that. He will provide the rush that we need on the end and we can always move him to LB if we need to. This kid will be a quality player for 4 years if he works hard and improves.

T, It's funny how LSU fans automatically discount a players talents when they choose another school over LSU, especially when its a state school. BTW, apparently he visited LSU on the night UL played LSU and ended up on our sideline for the second half. He mentioned to the coaches at that time that he felt more comfortable at UL and that he wanted to come here. They've known and felt for some time that this is where he wanted to be

If he's not LSU bound, I'd much rather him at UL rather than some other school. _

Yes, he will be a big impact player for us because he will provide what we need immediately. A kid with a motor and good technique with the ability to get to the QB that we haven't had in a long time and he's a freshman. We've had to convert guys at this position or wait until they developed before. Now, we have that type of player immediately. When he's a junior, he should be blowing people up at about 245-250 pounds. The kid is going to be a beast. Wait.

There is no need to trash a 17 year olds decision or his character because he chose to take a full ride at another university. _

And yet not bash the father for not allowing the kid to make the decision that fits his interests best. That's what is sad. We've known about the LSU junk forever. That is the difference. He will be welcomed with open arms and lots of chicks here, there he was the special teams outcast by the fans.
