Thread: Houston Bates to UL?

Just curious, what is so special about this kid? Other than LSU, his offers aren't spectacular. His measurables and video look good, but will he really be an impact player from day one? Also, I agree 100% there is no reason to trash the kid. This is one of the biggest decisions of his life, and he should make the right one for himself, not anyone else. If he's not LSU bound, I'd much rather him at UL rather than some other school.

I totally understand what you're saying BUT how many kids that commit early to schools like LSU, Texas, Bama, Florida, etc., STILL get pursued by the other bigtime programs even up until signing day! This kid didn't get pursued or had any offers worth mentioning outside of LSU even if they did offer. It looks more and more like he was just a fallback for them. Not bashing him but it puts things in perspective. Best of luck to him and welcome aboard.

This come directly from the LSU Scout site January 2010

The past two weekends have been a busy stretch for LSU head coach Les Miles and his staff, hosting visitors both committed and uncommitted.

On the final weekend before signing day, the Tigers brought Houston Bates – a commitment since picking up an offer at last summer’s camp – in for his official visit.

So your fallback notion is BS as are most of your posts on this site.

He was offered by Colorado and Fla International as well.

He was the #68 rated DE in the nation.

Dandy Don had him ranked as his #11 rated player in the state for 2009-2010

Anyone that views the cat being here as anything but a positive, or questions why he's here.... needs to have his head examined.

    "Colorado...FIU"
Ok sure, whatever. Maybe you need to get your head examined! Could it be that you are the one making this out to be better than it really is? Could it be that you have a problem when someone posts their opinion here and it differs from yours? Sorry bro but I don't wear those "vermillion" colored glasses like you do. The govermnet is #'d up enough without having to come here and be politically correct. Maybe you're the one with the problem!!
Here's a newsflash for you...this kid did not have a "committable" offer to the school to the east!! Believe that or not but it was more to do with him pursuing them more than they persued him!
So why then was he told that he'd be a grayshirt and didn't receive a scholarship? Here's you're answer...attrition!! They were waiting for others ahead of him to commit and come through in the end.
Since you read DandyDon, you'll know that he ranks ONLY kids from the state of Louisiana right?!?!?! Right?!?!?!

Now it should make you happy that this kid will now have the proverbial chip on his shoulder towards the school to the east. That ought to put a smile on your face and make your day.

Oh...and I'M NOT BASHING THE KID!!! You have your opinion and I have mine!

Trust us, you don't have to remind us what color your glasses are.

I look at it this way. Even if he was a "fallback" player for LSU, that puts him in some pretty high cotten nationally! Nationally "rated" at his position, and one of the top prospects in the state. I'll take that any day! I hope he makes it here so that I can say "Welcome Aboard!"

You really are worse than a kid you know!! It's amazing when someone has a differing opinion from yours or anyone else here how the natives become restless!! Sorry but I'm not one of the usual fist pumpers that will always put "politically correct" spin on everything!! If you don't like it...you know what you can do!
