Houston Bates to UL....I love it. This guy is going to be animaleon!
From what I hear, though, Houston Bates is NOT a done deal yet. There is no FINAL decision, although he commented that this is where he wants to go to school... there is not signature... and there is not scholarship available as of today. Aaaaaand... as I understand it, this move is still not supported by his parents, so until he turns 18 (which is probably very shortly) he cannot do anything on his own.
Did I get this all correct, CajunT?
Parents don't support him coming play ball for Louisiana? What, did they buy his abilities?
After seeing it in high school and college sports, one of the things I've promised myself and my wife is I will never become the father who tries to live out his athletic ambitions through his child.
That is what I see in this traveshamochery. Step-daddy looking out for #1 more than what is in the young man's best interest. While there is certainly a perception that a big pay day is closer via LSU than UL; there are plenty of good examples to demonstrate the possibility is there via UL - - assuming the young man has what it takes to get himself there: ability, determination/drive, opportunity, etc, etc. I suspect we've all seen young men get lost in the numbers game at the big programs. He will definitely get the opportunity at UL if he brings it.
Speaking of Houston Bates, have any of you checked out the elementary school tantrum going on over at Tiger Droppings? Pretty funny.

I hoped the coaches really worked on this kid at the scrimmage Saturday. He needs to know that he'll be an anchor for this defense and a monster at that. He'll get as much recognition as he needs as long as he performs! Hope we can get'em!!
i've never seen a bigger group of people who should be wearing depends and making a fuss over a player who to most of them "isn't needed and wouldn't get much playing time but on special teams". these guys just can't handle the fact that someone might actually not want to play for them
