This entire year rates an asterisk. Agree, conference champs ought to auto qualify. Assuming there will be bowl games there's not enough FBS teams to fill all the slots. Could look like some of the Louisiana high schools making the playoffs with only 2 wins! Actually believe we'll see a substantial number of bowls take a pass.
Any asterisk should mean how much of a challenge this season will be for players and coaches navigating through the pandemic. This season alone for all teams playing will be one of the most challenging seasons. So the asterisk should be a reminder of how difficult these kids and coaches worked for those championships.
Don't disagree with any of this. They work hard every year and only time will tell us if they made the right decision to play or not. I won't fault either decision. However, without a full season of NCAA teams, there will be some that say the team that wins the national championship this year did so but would have probably not even been in the playoff system under normal circumstances.
Man, you guys are talking about playoffs and bowls. I don't think you're going to see either.
Shoot, if teams just get through the season it'll be nothing short of a miracle.
The Ragin’ Cajuns are three weeks away from their season opener against the Iowa State Cyclones.
This matchup definitely adds to the Cajuns’ strength of schedule, as Billy Napier will be on the road in Ames, Iowa
Well I have said this before but I'll say it again. Until there is an all inclusive true playoff system, there has never been a true national champ ever. Not saying that some of the past "national champs" would not have won it, but then again, we will never know. Hand appointed teams has always been the way the NCAA has done it in the past. If every other division can do it in football, and every other NCAA sport, then Div I football could also. Cut all bowl games and only have an all inclusive conference true playoff system. This year of all years should do.
Give each conference a real reason to compete each year. So tired of seeing 6-6 teams or worse in way too many bowl games. Instead of bowl games, just give every team that competes a "You did it" trophy at the end of the year. How exciting. Yeah.
This offseason has been full of hardships and adversity for UL football.
From managing the COVID-19 pandemic, too mourning the death of assistant coach DJ Looney.
Now, the Ragin' Cajuns has to keep their eye on Tropical Storm Laura
