  1. Tickets Sportsnote Show Moving To Saturdays

Beginning August 22nd, Billy Ryckman's Sportsnote show is moving to Saturdays.

Sportsnote will end its weekday run this Friday.

Beginning Monday, August 17th, new ESPN Radio show Greeny, hosted by Mike Greenberg, will air on ESPN1420 each weekday from 11am to 1pm.

Sportsnote will be broadcast each Saturday from 9am to 11am.

Tune in and either laugh at....or with Billy (grins) ... as he interviews plenty of interesting guests, as well as take phone calls from the ESPN 1420 nation.

Billy Ryckman is one of only a handful of football players to be born and raised in Lafayette that got the chance to play in the NFL.

Billy played high school ball for the Lafayette High Mighty Lions as a small but slow WR. After high school, he attended Louisiana Tech and then went on to the NFL. Billy was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons where he played for in the late '70s tills the early '80s.

After football, Billy moved back to Lafayette to raise two kids. He began his broadcasting career in 1999.

Another sad day for sports radio. I love Bil's show. I guess the Au-Zone won't be back. Another sad event.

ESPN 1420 is dying a slow death. Very sad. If they keep going strictly with nationally syndicated programming, they will fail. There are just too many options our there with that kind of programming. Local shows and hosts is what has allowed ESPN 1420 to flourish for so many years. I was not a big fan of 103.7 in the past, but am starting to tune in more frequently now.

If I want Greeny I can see him in early tv. ESPN fell in love with his Jerry Lewis stitch.

Not anymore. He's off TV and will be back on radio at noon soon.

Same with me. I never used to listen to 103.7 but I'm tuning in more now. ESPN radio has gone to crap. They broke up possibly the greatest morning show ever in Mike & Mike and a few years later, one is not even on the air anymore and the other is doing radio for 2 hours. They have become the "woke" network and wanted to shake things up with new people. It's sad. I can't say I've ever been a fan of Billy's show to be honest. In fact its usually been hard listening for me but I agree with Mel that the local flavor is what drew a lot to this station for years. Now they've lost Jay, Foote and Billy and Stevie does nothing but talk about off the wall crap. It's just hard listening.

Bil is definitely an acquired taste. When I first moved back to Lafayette I would turn the channel when he came on. Then I started listening to him a little bit at a time and he grew on me.

They need to move Scott to the afternoon. He has plenty of UL stuff. Great interview with Dr.Maggard this morning for example. More would have an opportunity to listen in Jay’s old slot. I have mentioned it to him a couple of times via email but he never responds. Guess it is a business decision to have him at 7

Agree that Billy is an acquired taste. Regardless of the business model it’s hard to talk sports when it’s’Lights Out At Blackham’ for almost all sports.

My son was commenting, in frustration, that people won’t be back in the numbers as their dollars and interest will be in hiking, biking, camping, boating, fishing etc.

    They’re playing with fire.

That may be true in my case. I've been working on my golf game and may decide to start playing golf on Saturday mornings instead of going out to tailgate. I may consider just showing up for the game. That's only if I'm not too tired from hunting for my golf balls!!! HaHaHa!
