    The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Department of Athletics mourns the sudden loss of Louisiana Football assistant coach D.J. Looney, who passed away Saturday morning following a heart attack during a team workout at Cajun Field.

    Looney, 31, was entering his third season on staff with the Ragin' Cajuns, working specifically with the offensive line.

    At this time, the Department of Athletics asks that fans, friends and acquaintances of Coach Looney keep his family and the football program in their thoughts and prayers.

    Prayers and condolences going out to the family and friends of Coach Looney as well as the entire Cajun team and staff. What a tragic loss at such a young age.

    That was a nice tribute to a man that left way too early; we will miss you DJ!

    The untimely and stunning death of Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns assistant offensive line coach D.J. Looney surprised the entire Cajun community on Saturday, Aug. 1.

    According to Sports Illustrated, Looney was pronounced dead after being transported to a local hospital with a heart attack being the cause. He was 31 years of age

    In the big picture being here 20 years or a 100 makes very little difference. What matters is what you do with those years the Lord has given us. I think Coach Looney was welcomed to his Father. Good job my boy, good job.
