It’s a tough life...especially during an economic shutdown. Wishing that kid the very best! BT was a dog!

Living the dream to 26 is not a bad thing under any circumstances. Thanks for what you did as a Cajun and hope the run was worth it. TRAHAN

It’s hard to make a living playing minor league ball....That’s why I would encourage college baseball players to finish their degree before heading to A ball.

I wonder if he has any $$$$ saved up from initial contract ? Or more likely he was barely making ends meet based on draft $ etc.

That's the catch. Unless you are a "bonus baby", the original signing bonus is gone in a couple of years. You don't make any money in the minors and most live on the signing bonus money. Once its gone, if you aren't on a major league contract, it's a pauper's life to continue to play minor league ball.

I say it nearly every year here prior to the draft, talking about players' decisions. If you aren't drafted really early, stay in school and get your degree. The chances of becoming a MLB millionaire are SO very slim. And that doesn't include the crappy living and travel conditions associated with minor league baseball. College life is much better.

All of that said, I don’t know BT’s reasons for hanging up his cleats. And he made it to the big leagues, which is every young player’s dream, so big congrats to him and best of luck to him in his next endeavor.

Just saying, not the worst guy to put on staff as a volunteer assistant.

The best defensive infielder I've ever seen at the Tigue. Was pretty clutch at the plate as well. Wish he could've made it stick.

Hearing he was going to be on the 60 man roster with playing time at big league level this year. Why now?
