Thread: Day Two of the MLB Draft

After trying to watch for 15 minutes, I can't imagine anything more boring. Players I never heard of drafted by teams they'll never play for. Fascinating

For one that pretty much only watches sports and news to choose that broadcast says something about these days.

    Very true

Do we know for sure if he’s taking the slot money and signing?

Given MLB has decimated the farm system (and struggled on an agreement to start up again), any player with aspersions of playing major league ball won't pass at the now very scarce doors of opportunity that exists. The risk of saying "no" in today's market may very well be the end of the dream, why waste a pick next year on a guy that shunned MLB.

Especially a top 5 round. I'd find it extremely hard to see him passing it up.

    He's announced he will sign.

He needs to take the money made available to him yesterday and take a shot at his dream.

In the current employment market, there is probably a very remote chance that he would have an opportunity to make this kind of money in the real world in the next five years, especially considering that he would be still in college for another year.

He said teams were ready to draft him earlier, but wouldn't meet his number. Milwaukee had some extra money in the fifth round and gave him what he wanted.
