East Baton Rouge sheriff's deputies have arrested a 36-year-old man for bringing a gun onto Broadmoor High School's campus.

Casey Rayborn Hicks, the sheriff's office spokeswoman, says Jeffery Lynn Holmes accompanied his girlfriend Thursday to pick up her children from the school. Hicks tells The Advocate that Holmes saw the girlfriend's son in a fight with two other students. She says Holmes then approached the students with a loaded .38 handgun. Holmes was booked on one count each of illegal carrying of weapon on school property, felon in possession of a firearm and aggravated assault.
