I wonder what is up with the NO Bowl and App State? For that matter Ga State too.
Maybe this year the picking order is not in place? It is ESN, NO Bowl and then the others in some order.
ESPN has the first choice. Assuming no SBC team makes the NY6, Coastal goes to the Cure. NO has decided on Georgia Southern. App has been placed at Myrtle Beach because that bowl and NO are so close to the Championship game. Since the Lending Tree, who picks last has chosen Ga. State., it's pretty obvious we are headed to the Camellia Bowl.
When you look at bowls, DON'T confuse the Camellia with the Montgomery Bowl. The Montgomery Bowl is a one time thing, replacing the Fenway Bowl for this year only. It's the Camellia that is tied in with the Sun Belt.
Also, the AAC is no longer affiliated with the Cure Bowl. Two Bowls (Lending Tree and Camellia) are Sun Belt/MAC. MB, NO and Cure are Sun Belt/CUSA. It's believed Marshall is headed to Orlando.
I wonder if Georgia Southern has any players left? I didn't see the second half of the App game, but the word is a lot of Eagles are banged up. I really hope they slaughter the Rustonians.
All the years of "better bowl" threads, even in this year of Covid, even with a great record and being ranked in th CFP, once again proves unless we make the NY6 bowl, the "best" bowl for UL is NOLA. Contracts are written to keep the G5s "in our place".
Huey Long would be so proud of the P5s.
Well....we have to beat the chants and then worse case, we should get the Cure bowl in Orlando. We went there when we played Tulane. It's a big time stadium, unlike the Tx. HS stadium in Montgomery. Much prefer playing Marshall than Buffalo too.
For what its worth, Jerry Palm of CBS Sports predicting Louisiana vs. Va. Tech in the Gasparilla Bowl in Tampa on 12/26. He's predicting Liberty vs. Ball St. at Camellia. We'll see how it shakes out.
"Espn has first choice".... Uggh
