Thread: 2020 Bowl Watch

    From the CUSA board:

    UTSA vs SMU -Frisco Bowl.
North Texas vs App State - Myrtle Beach Bowl.
WKU vs Georgia state- Lending Tree Bowl.
FAU vs Memphis - Montgomery Bowl.

I love bowl season. I’ll watch as many of them as I can. I know it’s a Covid season, but having teams with losing records in bowls just seems dull.

Anyway, if things don’t pan out for a NY6 or bowls doNt work any magic and invite us to play a P5 somewhere, I’m hoping we at least play a member of the AAC. So the Cure Bowl again, I guess. Maybe the Camilla bowl against a ranked Buffalo team.

Cusa may suck, but their bowl tie ins are far above the Belt’s

  3. Default Re: Bowl updates

North Texas can write a book on how to go bowling with a losing record.

Stanford opting out of bowl season. They were 3-2, but I’m sure a few other like announcements will come this week.

Beginning to wonder if PAC 12 will be able to fill its Independence Bowl slot vs Army with a winning team. The Black Knights at 8-2 deserve to play a team with winning record.

You are correct. But if the SBC continues to improve and CUSA continues to decline, I can see changes coming when the current Bowl contracts expire and come up for renegotiation.

A UL Army matchup would be a good game this year

I recall that game, and the Cajun fans attended to help make it a success.

I wonder what is up with the NO Bowl and App State? For that matter Ga State too.

Maybe this year the picking order is not in place? It is ESN, NO Bowl and then the others in some order.

ESPN has the first choice. Assuming no SBC team makes the NY6, Coastal goes to the Cure. NO has decided on Georgia Southern. App has been placed at Myrtle Beach because that bowl and NO are so close to the Championship game. Since the Lending Tree, who picks last has chosen Ga. State., it's pretty obvious we are headed to the Camellia Bowl.

When you look at bowls, DON'T confuse the Camellia with the Montgomery Bowl. The Montgomery Bowl is a one time thing, replacing the Fenway Bowl for this year only. It's the Camellia that is tied in with the Sun Belt.

Also, the AAC is no longer affiliated with the Cure Bowl. Two Bowls (Lending Tree and Camellia) are Sun Belt/MAC. MB, NO and Cure are Sun Belt/CUSA. It's believed Marshall is headed to Orlando.

I wonder if Georgia Southern has any players left? I didn't see the second half of the App game, but the word is a lot of Eagles are banged up. I really hope they slaughter the Rustonians.

All the years of "better bowl" threads, even in this year of Covid, even with a great record and being ranked in th CFP, once again proves unless we make the NY6 bowl, the "best" bowl for UL is NOLA. Contracts are written to keep the G5s "in our place".

Huey Long would be so proud of the P5s.
