LOUISIANA La. — The University of Louisiana’s cross country team will host the 13th Annual Popeyes Ragin’ Cajun Cross County Invitational today at 9:30 a.m. at Acadiana Park.

The field scheduled to compete with the Cajuns includes

  • Grambling State,
  • Loyola-New Orleans,
  • Northwestern State,
  • Nicholls State,
  • Tulane,
  • Louisiana College,
  • McNeese State,
  • New Orleans.

    The women’s 5000-meter race is scheduled to start at 9:30 am, while the men’s race will follow at 10 am.

    On the women’s side, Cajun senior Natalie Gillis will be competing in her first race of the 2003 season. Gillis will be looking to improve on a sixth place finish in last year’s race.

    Leading the men’s team for the Ragin’ Cajuns will be senior Walter Whitfield, who led the men’s team by finishing 12th overall in last year’s event. Whitfield will also be running in his first race of the season.
