Did you ever consider that this was not Marlin's decision to keep Spenkuch over Lowery or to not keep Smith or any of the other transfers? My assumption is that most of these decisions were made by the kids, not the coaches.

Perhaps but this has not been necessarily true in recent years. I have a feeling they were slightly nudging Smith out the door though as they removed his scholarship.

On Twitter Tirus Smith is following someone named Treylan Smith who is an incoming freshman at MVSU. On his Ragincajuns.com bio, it states he has 1 brother. Both are from Mississippi. I wonder if Treylan Smith is his brother and he might be transferring into MVSU to play.

I realize these are allot of leaps but just a possibility.

Treylan played at Petal HS, and Tirus was born in Hattiesburg. Petal is just north of Hattiesburg.

I'd be surprised if he left on his own like that. Coaches are the ones making these decisions this late in the transfer window.

I think that is his brother.

Mentioned this in my reply to your post yesterday. Treylan and Tirus are brothers and both played at Petal. Treylan was a top 5 recruit in Mississippi last year and at one time had an offer to Miss St. Treylan and some more of Tirus’s family sat in the row behind me at the UCSB game last year.

That’s almost worse. Can’t keep players he’d allegedly wants at this rate is awful.

So the teams too injured to fire him. Most of the injured leaving. So now it's a chemistry issue, guess that entitles him another mulligan year. .

Now you are putting the pieces together it was not injury last year that derailed us it was bad recruiting .. But now he gets to use the "we are young" excuse

Only one of the injured is leaving. Two others returning. I agree with a previous post that some recruiting issues also contributed to the struggles last year. The injury situation led to some players playing too many minutes and exposed a lack of depth. I don't agree that we will be young. Only two of the 6 guys being brought in are HS players and one of those spent time at a high level prep school. How quickly they bond and develop chemistry will determine what type season they have. They could start slow and improve as the season goes along. They need to be ready to play at a high level by conference play at the latest.
