John the kid that I am talking about isn't in the portal. Its VERY possible that we are looking at a slapper but highly unlikely.

Only one kid in portal from Arizona that hasn't got on with another team and that is Jenna Kean. Maybe she is on the Cajuns radar? Can play all 3 outfield spots and run really well.We will just have to wait and see.

New NCAA Softball Slapper rules were approved prior to the 2018 season. The last three seasons, 2018, 2019, and 2020 have all been played under the new rules.

Now the rule is if any part of the foot is outside the box you are out. This is a recent rule.

Before the 2018 season, the committee approved rule (11.2.5), which prohibits the batter, at the moment of bat-ball contact, to have any part of her foot touching the ground outside the line's of the batter's box.
Prior to that her entire foot had to be out. That is my understanding.

Not so much that I know what I am talking about, I am just reading directly from the rule book.

That’s an interesting comment. Just mirroring the rules book instead of just opining whatever you think. You won’t last long here. 😉

It was the whole foot out of the box, now it is any part out of the box your out. Which makes it harder to hit. Regardless less D1 teams are adding slappers also in part to the defense being so much better. I didn't remember it changing 3 years ago, but I am also getting older. I stand corrected on the time frame but also firm on the current status of slappers slowly dying off. Not saying we will not get a slapper but Glasco prefers sluggers. Glasco converted Talley from a slapper to more of a straight away hitter.

I haven't been here very long, and trust me, will probably not be here much longer, lol.

Nothing should ever get personal on this board. With that being said I don't think its a good place for any players or parents of student-athletes.

is this why Milligan started 56 games in 2019 and Curry started 47? or why Milligan batted 175 times and Curry only 120? Because he prefers sluggers? just curious.
