[QUOTE=Cajunsmike;1227771]He was a four star coming out of HS and signed with FIU from what I understand. I am not sure why he decided to go to Prep School vs joining the Panthers. He is a 2 star now after a year in Prep School. In fact his rating dropped to a 2 star before playing a game in Prep School. Rating probably dropped after deciding on FIU. Many of those ratings are directly related to profile of the schools recruiting you and their national profile. Other than that, I have no idea why a rating would change so much. Nevada article does have one thing incorrect. He went to Springfield Academy and not TaylorMade Academey which is supposedly in Metairie. I presume Springfield is in Massachusetts. I figured it was a northern prep school as his Twitter announcement says he is looking forward to moving south. I will research how he did at Springfield later. Appears to be a high energy guy with good athleticism. He may have to play quite a bit for a freshman since we are not sure if the Portland transfer will have his waiver granted. Fills a need of course. We definitely needed another inside player who does not have an eligibility question.[/QUOT

Here's some more info, and I believe his prep school won prep school national championship...https://newenglandrecruitingreport.com/recruits/isaiah-richards-2020

Where you saw that According to espn he is a 2 star
Verbalcommits.com showed a 4 star from ESPN. Must've been from last year. Don't know why they dropped him so much.

Basketball seems to be all over the place they don't have a real trusted source like 247 for football and perfect game for baseball

Pretty sure you’re in a majority. What’s more than clear is the many, many examples of stars ⭐️ multiplying and disappearing almost like a black hole depending on where they sign.

Pretty sure this is what happened with Richards. Something I read today said the ESPN rating went from 4 stars to 2 stars right after he committed to FIU. Mylik Wilson is another great example, 247 had him ranked #97 nationally and #1 in Louisiana at one time. He fell all the way to #337 and #3 in the state after signing here.

Malik played like a four star. This guy does the same thing and we will all be happy. Did a little more research and found that he did start at Taylor Academy in Metairie. Once that school closed, he transferred to Sprinfield Academy. That school had a 30 and 7 record this past season.

To be a star you must have command of all four limbs and your brain. All 5-points need to be,in the game.

Granted this situation makes every piece of news attract more comments than normally. In that regard, here are some prep school stats for Richards. Averaged 12.5 ppg, 11 rpg, and 2.5 blocks per game. Rebounds number is especially encouraging. Prep school competition In the video I reviewed appears to be at a higher level than HS play. In HS his team won two NY city championships. Therefore he may be more prepared to contribute as a freshman than most guys. Notice I said may. Not making any predictions. You never know how hard they will work or fit into team chemistry until they get here.
