Thread: OT: Death of a tradition

Default OT: Death of a tradition

There is much speculation (and it's probably spot on) that one of the victims of all this in the future will be the buffet line.

For fat people like me, that's a bummer.

But that means we'll probably lose the last remaining Popeye's buffet.

    Sigh....

The other day I was thinking about all the "Chinese" buffet places that might have a problem.

When you think about it, serving food to the masses that already was being protected from said masses by sneeze guards was probably counter-intuitive to public health.

There are some things you’d rather not see illustrated in a lab setting. Sneeze guards just block the direct blast.

I was never comfortable in the buffet, but hey we’re all going to hell together.

If the Petroleum Club wasn’t already struggling pre-COVID, I hope they’re brainstorming right now

I thought about that earlier myself. The last one in the world is certainly at risk.

I don't eat at buffets, but curious: besides the Chinese/Asian restaurants, what other restaurants in the area offer a buffet?

Popeyes, Golden Corral, and Lagneaux's, come to mind. Any others?

The buffets could and should use the Pancho’s model.

Wouldn't be a terrible idea but it would require more employees

Outside of the novelty that is the last Popeyes buffet in the country, buffets are gross AF
