It is difficult for me to remember a time when I haven't been impressed with Dr. Maggard. Just exudes competence, class and accessibility.

The more stressful the situation, the calmer you need to be in order to keep your teammates focused. Seems he goes by that philosophy. For those that don't have time to listen to the entire interview, here is a basketball tidbit. We will play more non D1 home games to balance the upcoming schedule this coming season. However that is for this season only. I would not be surprised if that is as many as three. On a more optimistic note he is encouraged that there will be some type of scheduling alliance with CUSA schools soon. Not sure how official that will be. Right now we are scheduled to play La. Tech at home and at USM. Those are two CUSA schools. Would be great if we get could two more. One at home and one away. Personally I am very skeptical about getting any of those schools to come to Lafayette first. What we should do is play some of those twice in the same year. Works for everyone that way. Good information in the interview on a variety of subjects. It is 26 minutes. I encourage all to listen to the entire interview.
He said a lot of the same things in a shorter interview with Scott Prather this morning. Scott will have a recording of that interview up on the ESPN1420 website later this morning. One thing I heard different with Scott this morning is that the Southland is also a league that will have more games with the Sun Belt. I know a lot of folks won't like that but bus trips are now at a premium. That does not apply to football of course. He did say that a football bus trip cost roughly 20 grand while a plane flight is 100 grand plus and that is on a charter. If you don't have time to watch the podcast, go ahead and listen to Scott's interview. Both are informative.
Love the Cajun Alumni "Tuna Seither" print in the background behind Dr. Maggard's home office.
That is the inaguaral Sun Belt Conference Championship print that Tuna did for the Conference a couple of years ago.
