If she ever returns to Richmond/Sugar Land offering lessons, my kid will be in line.

Man. I didn't know how many of you guys are media experts.

I think balance is important. In the days of social media, some media will now report when someone tweets an offer. I think Steve is pretty good at that.

I have always been of the opinion it is so much better to be right on a story than to be first on it. I remember vividly that happening with one of Hud's contract extensions. One media outlet reported he signed it...and he had not. I had always told my former boss it's better to be right than first. After that debacle he never bothered me again on that. I do remember this board picking up on the story and getting all excited. But the signing finally happened two weeks later.

And, finally, sometimes the media reports things that aren't popular with message boards and other outlets. The media gets hammered for reporting it and then the populous finds out it was accurate. The story on the former softball coach comes to mind.

I was a member of the media for 48 years and I'll defend them when they deserve it. Local media covers two (and sometimes more) Universities, scores of high schools and sports that never make it to this message board. There are a couple of you here that have great information on softball.

You always have wanted me to share info. I'm sure the media would appreciate it if you would do the same.

While I don't always agree, I do appreciate everything that you write or report. Keep it up.

Jay, I know you're a baseball guy and because you do the play-by-play, you never had the opportunity to watch softball on a regular basis. But, now that you have a little time on your hands, maybe you can follow softball a little more than you've been able to in the past. Your input, writing and reporting on softball would be greatly appreciated. I seriously believe, with Glasco as coach, the softball team will be the first team since the water ski team to win a national championship.

I asked Jay when we recruited A. Brignac and crew who he thought our first sport to earn a Natty would be. Brilliant as he is, he figured softball. And now years later, still is.

A Softball Natty would be sweet to go alongside the 194(?) Heavyweight Boxing Natty, the unrecognised 43-44 Football Natty, the 60's Weightlifting Natty(s), and the Ski Team Natty(s).
