Call it what you want. To compete at the highest level you need to find the best available players whether from HS ranks or the portal. He's not recruiting like ML, nothing like it at all. He has national reach and a great reputation which in many ways explains the numerous transfers. Kids want to play for him, for UL Ragins Cajuns and that means compete or go somewhere else. We've had our share of kids leaving as well....some pretty good ones too!
With his history, Glasco is definitely uniquely positioned. To start his head coaching career in a place that was almost there also bodes well for him.
It is in my mind. Hence my point that he may not be good at evaluating and/or developing HS talent. For him to be successful, the Cajuns may need to be transfer U. Once again, I am not saying it is a bad thing, but let's not say we aren't living on transfers right now.
This would've been GG's 3rd season, and really 2nd with his recruiting class, so it is still early, but Roman is the only HS signee of his that has shown the promise of being a D1 impact player.
His past coaching was much in the very successful pre college competitive travel and league farms. All the best players played there. He still has lots of contacts there for recruiting freshmen. He came here to a program that was ready to win a NC but just had not gotten there yet. Understand now?
