Thread: Draft Strategy...

  1. #1

    Default Draft Strategy...

When it comes to the NFL Draft, I have always been a proponent of selecting the Best Player Available in the 1st round and drafting to need after that.

    Agree?

Also, there's an outside chance Tua drops a long way. This would be my, and Coach Payton's, dream scenario.

For the first time in a long time, I am stoked to watch every second of the Draft. Might even break open a new bottle of Bourbon.

Top 15 maybe but outside of that you go after a need

Best player is the way I would go unless trading down to aquire picks makes sense. I would not touch Tua with 1 10 foot pole. His injury history is terrible.

I would not pass up a generational player like Young for a QB

Saints have typically tried to fill in needs prior to the draft so they don't have to go for a need player. I think that works in most instances unless you just can't get that player via trade or signing an unrestricted free agent.

Oh. The skins will draft Chase Young. He is a beast and manimal. It would take a haul of picks like what the saints gave up for that UT RB for them to move down.

If you are true to your board, then you go with the best available athlete. I don't see TUA dropping outside of the Top 10, so the Saints would have to mortgage their future to trade down for him in that position. That wouldn't be too smart with a number of top players like Kamara, Lattimore and Ramczyk due major money next year and few draft picks in the premium rounds in 2021.

A list of the current players on roster at the positions you mentioned. Not making judgements on them, but just wanted to put a list out there.

LB Davis is the best FA signing saints have had since Drew, Anzalony is glass cannon cant stay heath and Alonso is decent the rest are bench players

QB drew is 42 Hill is not an NFL QB SP was trying to get a 1st round pick for cheap

WR Thomas is a franchise Wr and Sanders is a 1 year rental the rest are ok to not good

Db Shon, Jenkins and CGJ are great young players ..Prob and PJ are straight garbage rest are just bodies

I think every franchise has to make a determination where they are and then make a decision. I don't mind drafting for need, but hate reaching for that need. So, if you want to draft a need, but best player at that position isn't close to your draft spot, then trade down.

I would not touch a QB in this draft especially not Tua there will be a decent FA QB next year

Murray or Ruggs/ Judy if available would be my top 2
