Thread: Draft Strategy...

There are a ton of mock drafts out there, but there are two positions and four players that seem to be tied to the Saints at 24:

WR, either Jalen Reagor - TCU or Brandon Aiyuk - Arizona St.
LB, either Patrick Queen - LSU or Kenneth Murray - Oklahoma

I favor either Aiyuk or Murray.

Tua is good but I don't see him being a top 15 pick after his injury. Injuries like his just taint people's opinion whether it's right or wrong.

You take him because QB's like him don't come along every draft. It's managed risk if you have a veteran to sit behind one year to get his body stronger and learn the pro game. His ceiling is higher than Borrow because he is younger. Had he not been injured, he would be the #1 pick.

Actually I think Burrow is better than Tua after his performance last year.

Some Gm's are worried it was just a flash in the pan and will return back to 2018 form

Borrow is the most ready College QB to play his rookie season. He has all the intangibles except the strong arm. But he is 23 years old, will be 24 during the season. His ceiling is lower than Tau long term in my opinion.

If Qb need wasnt such a big deal, Chase Young would be #1 overall. He will wreck QBs for years to come. YOung is the best player in the draft bar none.

I mostly agree. I woukd take a flyer on Jalen Hurts or Jake Fromm after the 3rd round.

Saints also should target Gandy golden or Bayless in later rounds

Saints could use more picks, even though their roster looks stacked. If there's an opportunity for the Saints to trade down a few spots and gain another 2nd or 3rd pick that can help.

    Agree?

Also, there's an outside chance Tua drops a long way. This would be my, and Coach Payton's, dream scenario.

For the first time in a long time, I am stoked to watch every second of the Draft. Might even break open a new bottle of Bourbon.
Tua will be a big bust. First he’s damaged goods in his actual strengths as a quarterback. Second the window of being open isn’t five to ten yards like at Bama, generally 0-4 yards is NFL open window. Only a handful of quarterbacks thrown the 0 yards receiver open.
