Of course it does not mean the education received is any better than they would have received at the previous spot. No idea how big of a factor this was in Jalen Johnson decision to move on. Consider this as well, rule used to be that the school you transferred to for your Masters program had to offer a graduate degree program that was not offered at the place you earned your undergraduate degree from. No idea if that rule is still in place or how much of a factor the academic situation played into Jalen's decision making. If I had to guess, I would say it was at least a consideration when reviewing his options.
Yes diversity is a much more politically correct term. The incestuous comment that MAT thought was so ridiculous came from a very real conversation with someone much more old school and it struck a cord with me to the point that I still remember it 15 years later. It made me realize I would be going back into the same classrooms with many of the same professors and hearing the same philosophies I had already been exposed to. As far as Johnson goes he just strikes me as the type of student athlete in which academics had to be considered in this decision.

Jalen had weaknesses in his game but he was still one of our best three players and I hate to lose him. Wish him best. Will be interesting to see where he ends up. Drat and golly gosh darn.

This is one of the reasons even though I love our school and Lafayette I moved on for grad school.
One of our kids did that for a graduate degree and explained it pretty much in those words. Prove yourself elsewhere is the clean version.

My biggest concern with MBB is the modified schedule floated out there. I can’t wrap my head around playing ULM four times.

Some coaches will not go for that. ULM May struggle this season as Ertel is moving on. Georgia State won’t like having to plAy Georgia Southern four times while we play the Warhawks four times

Yeah, I’m with ya. It’s funny because ULM doesn’t offer much.

I’m fairly confident you were the one telling everyone there was a plan and to hold down the noise regarding Marlin?...am I misremembering?

Never brought Marlin up. MBB players, as discussed previous years, transfer more than any other sport. When there’s only @ 1,800 D-1 starting positions available, there are a lot of egos not being fed. The big fish in the little pond quickly becomes the little fish in the big pond. And no, that’s not a Marlin reference.

Anyone considered that maybe the Big Fish suggested Johnson might be happier elsewhere. This is a one time chance to get multiple transfers without NCAA issues.

Just because they are in house, you never stop recrouxting.

Something Marlin doesn't seem to do very well.

The success of any team starts with the ROUX.

Never stop stirring the pot or someone will stir it for you and you won't like the results.
