""2000 College World Series—Louisiana vs. San Jose State

This is a great matchup of two CWS Cinderellas.

The Spartans were nothing if not a traditional underdog in the 2000 NCAA Tournament. They came out of the Waco Regional as a No. 3 seed, and then took on the No. 5 national seed Houston in a super regional at Cougar Field, winning the deciding third game of the series, 3-2.

The Cajuns getting to Omaha might not sound strange now, because they went on to become consistent winners under the late Tony Robichaux, but this was their first big national breakthrough. For local fans in Omaha who make a habit of supporting the underdogs in each CWS, no matter who that may be, they had two viable choices in this game."

Ima put quotations in the post. Their words. A few thought 2014 was ok, though.

    Agree.

The 2014 climb to a #1 ranking in the regULar season in some ways is a bigger "break through" than getting ULtra hot for a week or two in June.

Thanks for the link....I rewatched the whole game earlier today. The presence at the plate that this team had compared to our last few years teams is like night and day. Nelson, Massiatte, Poche, etc.. were up there swinging to take the cover off of the baseball. I haven't seen that from recent teams except 2014.

I wish there were 2014 games available. I know maybe the school doesnt have the rights to the postseason games since ESPN did them but I'd pay money to be able to get the full catalog of those. It stinks that the WatchESPN/ESPN+ catalog doesnt go very far back.

It's almost a bit of cruel torture that the RaginCajuns.com baseball archive only goes back to the start of 2017 when the last regional season was 2016.

    End of regular season, 2014.

Cajuns were the #1 team in all major polls.
