I know there's many opinions on him when it comes to athletics. But he dedicated many decades to the university. Please keep his family in your prayers.

One of the nicest men I have had the privilege of ever knowing. He always gave me the time to talk sports, the university and what was going on with University's dealings.
I will miss him . He loved the University of Louisiana and fought to get its name changed. God Bless him and his Family
God bless him
RIP Doc. Condolences to his family.
Several decisions made by Dr. A set us up to be in a healthy position academically for years to come. I’ll always respect that.
All my prayers and condolences go out to his family. Dr. Authement made this university what it is today.
RIP Doc A.
My only interactions with Dr. A were at football practices.
His restrictive actions were hard for me to wrap my brain around, but once you understood the situation under which he took over, it made a lot more sense.
He loved the U.
Thanks for the job he did for the university community he loved. Not a perfect man, but I believe he did the best he could which was way better than we could have hoped for.
RIP Dr. A. He accomplished so much for this university during his lengthy tenure. It's a shame most on here remember mostly his handling of athletics, which seemed to hamper our opportunities to move up the D1 food-chain . I know l shook my head more than a few times. But no one can deny his love of the university and the many great things he did for UL.
I think most on here understand his overall contributions to the University. Its just on a sports board your going to hear about athletics more than anything else. I didn't care for the way he micromanaged things but then again we probably aren't where we are today without someone who cared enough to micromanage things.
RIP Dr. A. It is very unfortunate that given the circumstances he won't get the send off he deserves. At least at this point in time.
