Evans: Players must take care of business

LOUISIANA La. — UL basketball coach Jessie Evans said Thursday that his Ragin’ Cajuns need to take care of their responsibilities, or they won’t see the court this season.

“It’s a privilege to play for this program,” Evans said. “If you haven’t done your job academically, socially or physically, then you shouldn’t be eligible. You shouldn’t play.

“That’s the way it should be.”

Evans’ Cajuns have academic issues this fall, although he disputes the athletic department figure of four ineligible for this fall.

“You’re probably looking at two kids,” he said. “One kid is a transfer from Auburn who has to be in attendance at least one year before he’s eligible, and another was ineligible when he transferred here.

“With a third kid, there’s still a possibility there.”
