There is already one basically on campus - UMC - that is run by the State.

Whatever happened to UL's acquisition of the Lourde's Hospital property? Last I heard was the Diocese was not cooperating, wanting too much for the property. Where does the good of the community fit into this, particularly if UL could get a med school and use that property to build one or even just to expand the land-locked campus? Maybe the Diocese should practice what it continually preaches and not hold out for more money, but rather negotiate a sale that will benefit the university and ultimately the community.

The other part of that coin, is the Diocese trying to work out a deal for the Earl Long Gym parking lot to build a new Wisdom Church. Could it be, the University isn’t wanting to budge on that?

Never confuse the Diocese with local Christian practices. Their job is taking care of the Church. They decide how, what, and when the locals get fed. That’s not an evil thing.

Didn't say it was evil. Heck, I'm Catholic. That property will not likely see commercial development outside of the university. So, hold on to it for a long term investment or put it to great use that will benefit all, whether UL can get a med school or just expand campus. Not sure UL would/should give up the very limited campus space as well as the only women's sports facility. If I am not mistaken, the chapel is the only church on campus. Maybe the Diocese should build a new chapel at the right size and parking on the Lourdes property and sell the remainder of that property plus the current Chapel site to UL. As UL develops it with a med school or campus expansion, it will still be on campus. Just at a few thoughts to consider.

Old Lourdes site too far. You have "competition" right there across Johnston and on University.

With so much moving on line during this "crisis", brick and mortar expansion is going to slow.

In med school, there's no substitute for carving up a real cadaver, Its 2 years of classrooms and cadavers, 2 years of less classroom and more hands on at the clinic and hospital level...but online will have its day..

I was not speaking to your comments. I just wanted to clarify about what my view was as my comments seemed a bit harsher than I meant.
