Thread: UL's Chris Smith primed to take over role of departing speed threat Raymond Calais

  1. UL Football UL's Chris Smith primed to take over role of departing speed threat Raymond Calais

In some ways, UL redshirt sophomore Chris Smith is going to face more pressure than most first-year performers on the collegiate level.

For the past two seasons, the Ragin' Cajuns' offense has enjoyed an explosive three-headed monster in the backfield.

The staff is very high on this kid, as they should be....195 on a 5’9” frame and he can fly!

Anyone who has seen this young man carry the ball and score on his first play, has got to realize, he is gonna be a beast. He comes along to join some of the Cajuns greatest running backs.
Cajun fans have got to agree, these last 10 years, we have recruited some really great backs

I see Smith to become truly great

The first glimpse I had of him was at the UL vs App State game at Kidd Brewer Stadium in beautiful Boone, NC his first freshman year. UL kicked off to App State and App's All world kick returner took it 99 yards almost to the house.....He was run down from behind by none other than Chris Smith, who was by far the fastest person on the field on that play.

That play was impressive and he has only shown that he can be even more special when he has gotten a little more playing time.

......God knows our backs run hard and many times new backs to a program tend to take on the styles of the older backs.....in this case a constant is the very hard running......Smith has taken on this prerequisite to add to his other attributes!!!
