Watching the regional game vs. Mcneese and its obvious that this was a tight group of gritty blue collar guys that really just enjoyed competing. This might seem out of left field, but based off this game and some of the other games from 2000, the dirtier the players got from sliding in the dirt and what not the harder they appeared to compete. Maybe they were just having more fun, but being covered in dirt seems to make you only want to get dirtier. Kinda like being proud to show your battle scars off. There's obvious benefits to having a field that doesn't damage uniforms as much or requires no maintenance, but it'd make the tigue feel a bit more natural IMO. Probably won't see those days anytime soon, but i'm living in the year 2000 anyways so that's my reality.
