Not only "can hit" but "the best hitter on the team." I guess we will see. Lots of baseball to play.

I would not say his game is in question at all. The kid was offered by an SEC school and would probably be on their roster today had he gone. Over the last few weekends Dupuy and Windham have been in and out of the lineup, this kid is no doubt better defensively, than anyone who has been in the line up, when they are not in. And probably could bring more to the plate than both. He just got caught up in a numbers game. I know specifics about his exit interview and transfer but won't make them public. I am pretty sure he will be invited back here. I’ll be curious to see what he does.

You didn't mention D1 and the reply didn't mention D1.

It read to me like "the kid can hit."

You conveniently left out "even with that" - the kid can hit.

The team those gaudy numbers were put up on last week has a team ERA right under 10. Really bad Juco D II pitching.

Just admit it you hate the kid because of the high school he went to.

That is not true. When I found out that we kept only two freshmen, I was shocked. I was even more shocked when I found out that the two were not Haufpour and LeJeune.

All I’m saying is that NO ONE can project that one will be a successful D1 hitter until he hits D1 pitching. He may be the best D1 hitter in Louisiana, but no one will know until he gets there and does it. That is my only point.

Lots of players hit very well in Juco because lots of pitchers don’t pitch there.

Successful Juco pitchers translate to D1 better than successful D1 hitters because 85 to 90 with movement and control is 85 to 90 with movement and control no matter what mound you throw it from.

Juco hitters are facing mostly 78 to 83 there. Lots of players are hitters in that range. When they step up to D1, they don’t see that anymore from the mound.

Vic I see what your are saying and you are correct you never know for sure until you see it. But I’ll go on a limb here and say this kid will hit D1 pitching someday with the best of them. In high school he had very much success against the Cooke kid here and a local pitcher having success as a freshman at ole miss. He also played on summer teams all over the country with the best high school players in America and had much success hitting the ball. Many of those pitchers are now playing D1 baseball. Just as all of the pitchers he faced games have translated to D1, I completely expect his bat to do so as well, when the opportunity arises. The only question now is for whom will he swing it?

The coach already cut him once. What do you think? I can't recall a player cut that came back.
