Awesome Sauce
Raymond Calais wants to change his label.
It isn't just that the smallish Louisiana running back (5 feet 9, 189 pounds) wants to be known as a runner who invites the opportunity to grind inside the tackles.
"I think a lot of people think I just like to run the ball outside, and that's just not me," he said Wednesday from the NFL Combine, where running backs, offensive linemen and specialists made their rounds through the media availability. "I like running inside zone and the outside zone."
It’s not that the reality of the coronavirus hasn’t negatively impacted Raymond Calais during his pursuit of getting picked in the NFL draft.
His training facility has closed and the UL weight room also isn’t available these days as the nation attempts to halt the spread of the virus
What is the most number of Cajuns ever drafted and conversely what is the most number of Cajuns ever signed to free agent contracts. I think the Cajuns have a number of players with a chance to get drafted/signed this year.
Draft Potential:
Robert Hunt
Kevin Dotson
Raymond Calais
JaMarcus Bradley (outside shot of getting drafted)
Free Agent potential/CFL/XFL:
Michael Jacquett III
Jacques Boudreaux
OUTSIDE SHOTS:
Bennie Higgins
Jarrod Jackson
Nick Ralston
I think a team will take a chance on Calais in a later round and not take a chance of missing out on free agency.
Question though; Did Calais play QB in high school? If so, could he become another Taysom Hill type, offensively wise?
Just curious.
Geaux Cajuns.
Calais will be udfa
Calais will go in late 3rd to mid 4th round
If the options are 7th round pick or UDFA, I hope he goes undrafted. I know it goes contrary to conventional feeling. But he gets to pick the best option for him at that point.
And no, no Taysom Hill in his future. But he could find his place in the league by being a demon on special teams coverage and returns.
