Work on your comprehension. Never said a thing about UL. It's about NMSU's priorities. They are a basketball first program. Just another lame ___ attempt comparing apples and oranges. "Ohh we need be like" and it's always a private university or a basketball first program. Stop with the fantasies.

I'm just as unhappy as you about basketball but I don't have my head up my backside ignoring how physically beat this team is and how emotionally beat our coach is due to personal losses. This year is a total pass.

Money? Who you think we'd get? Scott Cross got ran from UTA with a good record and Marlin owned him this year at Troy. More often than not for mid majors the stars align and the coach cashes in. You'll have the occasional Chris Beard, but more often you'll have a Marty Fletcher (251-320). Cajuns just happen to be where the blind squirrel found a nut.

Next year is a different issue.

Move on to baseball. 24 strikeouts in 2 games. Excuses abound, none of which Tony would accept.

I know this is generally a basketball thread. However in regards to your last sentence you are correct in that Coach Robe would not accept excuses for the problems at the plate in Games 1 and 2. However from what I read, neither is Coach Deggs. In fact words he used were a little harsh to his team.

No words are harsh enough. Either they are men, fighters and grinders or they need to go. Now, let’s go hit the ball today.

I am not talking about this year. I am talking about the future of the program. We need to rid ourselves of people like Marlin who are full of excuses about why we cant win, and replace them with people with a vision to win and a plan to excell. I have faith in Dr. Maggard. He can and will find coaches like Napier and Glasco for our basketball programs.

He can’t do that until he can afford to do it. People can bietch until they are blue in the face, however, as a result of the cost of all the moves he has made already, he has no more money to make a move on men’s or women’s basketball. You guys just need to calm down and enjoy the show, cause there is nothing you can do about it.

I share that confidence as well in that when the time comes for a change, Dr. Maggard will make a quality selection. However, everyone knows that won't happen for at least 13 1/2 months.

Actually Maggard has blame in how he handled this by giving a coach an extension when NOTHING warranted it. He mishandled that entire situation so now he needs to fix it

He would just love to have your check to fix it. I’m sure if you walk in tomorrow and afford him that option, he would be right on it.

I don't know the details but some have said the previous contract called for an automatic extension with either a regular season championship or tournament championship. He can't do anything right now to fix anything due to the situation we are in. I would not be surprised if he stood pat right now if someone walked in with a check for the buyout due to the injury situation. I don't know that for sure but that is my guess. A year from now things will be different without better results. I can't tell you how much better the results need to be for nothing to change and few can. I doubt what happens a year from now has crossed his mind as he has plenty of other things to think about now.

I don't know about anything being "more" important than MBB right now. It's just that at this stage I THINK (don't know for sure but am fairly confident that is the case) he has already made about his mind about this year. Why focus on something that has already been decided. He will worry about next year when that time comes. Other things to occupy his time now are helping the baseball staff stay positive after the rough start, helping football make a couple of important hires, and continually looking at the financial situation we need to improve.

Everybody needs to face it - there is no money to handle MBB - that is why nothing will happen. Everything else you mention are regular AD type concerns. Right now he has two money issues - MBB coach and Cajun Filed renovations.
