That woman color commentator that does the women's basketball games. Ok, that's a joke.
Ian and Topham may call a great game, but what Jay Walker brings to baseball, football and basketball, as well as softball when he does make a call, is the history of the sport. He always brings up players, teams and games from the past and relates them to today.
Some may have problems with him, but he will be very hard to replace. Can't imagine an outsider bringing this concept to the game.
We had lunch at Olde Tyme Grocery. But what does that have to do with this post?
Question.... so who was the best voice in your opinion for the Ragin Cajuns? For me, it was Don Allen, followed by Ron Gomez.
I'd agree, but Walker is great
For me "Voice of" has a much deeper meaning than "Best Voice"
Ron Gomez had the best voice, by far. Great at basketball
Don Allen had the most commanding presence, by far. Great at basketball solo but not excellent at acknowledging his cohosts commentary.
But neither of those guys can hold a candle to Jay Walker in terms of diversity of delivery. Jay's ability to switch sports is among the best anywhere. His voice? He's a better announcer than he was a DJ.
