That was a hell of a rain storm but a hell of a win!

I think UAB lost to FAU in the league championship game. App beat UAB in the New Orleans Bowl. UAB won their division by virtue of their win over LA Tech. That was one of the games in which Tech had to sit their QB due to some type of suspension.

I was there and soaked as well. First win for Bustle if I’m not mistaken.

I was in college as well and stayed for the entire game. I believe that was Rickey Bustle’s first win as a head coach. The digging of the footers for the foundation that was laid by he and the staff after the toothpick era.

Roddy White was playing for UAB. That was a fun night!

My wife and I were part of that student group that stayed. That game resulted in us buying some nice UL raincoats. We still have them today.

I do remember that game as well because a student ran out onto the field during the lightning delay and the students cheered him on as he evaded the security and cops chasing him.

I see they had very good timing, scoring a matchup during that magical Baldwin run.

Wow! I remember. I think that was the same game that we/The students were standing on that platform and we fell over into the field(drunk of course) and the metal border from the small platform(maybe it was used for the band at one time or video man) broke. I still have a piece of that metal rail which was taken out of the stadium in victorious mode. No responsibilities then. None!

I was there in the student section as well. Isn’t that the game where during the rain delay, some student decided to run on the field, and he must have run about 4 laps to the end zones before the hoard of university police was able to contain him? Coach Bustle should have asked that kid to tryout with all the officers he was able to dodge.

Yep! That was the game! We were all yelling for them to let him go. Was definitely more entertaining than any halftime show at Cajun Field, save for probably the Southern games.
