Thread: Cajuns' Ellyson, Kleist face mound of expectations

  1. UL Softball Cajuns' Ellyson, Kleist face mound of expectations

The expectations for the UL softball team in 2020 rest on the arms of two pitchers.

In the last decade, Ragin’ Cajuns softball fans have watched Christina Hamilton, Jordan Wallace and Alex Stewart be dominant ace pitchers, but the wear of starting just about every game took its toll when the postseason came around

I would say a combination of both. When you have to ride the same starting pitcher for an entire Regional or Super Regional, that puts a hell of a during that weekend. And if you drop a game and have to come out of the losers’ bracket, or have to win two in a row in Super after dropping the first one, the task becomes almost impossible.

Now with two reliable, stud starting pitchers, you can alternate. And if one’s having a bad day missing her spots like they all do from time to time, you can bring in a second stud. Those dominating SEC and PAC 12 schools go into post season with two or more stud starters. I’m not sure when the last time is we’ve had that luxury.
