My man, my friends at UL say they support him.. But not willing to put $$$ or reputation either way.. And they are few. I trust what my friends say there but they don't even know behind the scenes. But they all say $$$$$ is the only reason he is still here because every time Marlin opens his mouth, he makes them look stupid.
Donors stepped up and wrote checks to fire HUD. That is not there to fund firing of Marlin. That, all of the increased salaries in Football, Baseball and Softball combined with all of the increased salaries cost in the administration (remember, before Dr M, it was Famer, Leger and one other in administration - there are what, 10 in that office now) leaves no more money on the money tree.
There is literally a single person in this entire thread who is only partially-for Marlin staying..Everyone here is acknowledging he’s not meeting the fan bases expectations and there’s no way he gets an extension...what in the world is there left to debate in this thread?!?
Some people just look at the budget and say we are in the red, therefore we don't have any money to do it. LOL. We were in the red 2 and 3 years ago also. Still no list or number of donors that just through up $1.5 million when attendance had already dipped to below current levels. Bottom line is the university knew people would get behind firing Hud and may even get some help from donors although nobody can verify if they funded the entire buyout. All these salary increases someone is sure happened came from private dollars that, once again, we didn't have at the time either. However, the university saw a need to raise pay and knew the public would be behind it. The problem with this current situation is that they don't have the urgency to make this move as they did in other decisions where private funds were needed. Point is, if the university and core fans wanted this move to occur, it could happen.
Nobody likes to fire coaches. That’s true at virtually every university. Now the real truth is when fans start abandoning the program they make the move.
