MBB should absolutely be the 2nd most important sport at UL. That’s why I’m mystified by the way our university ignores that reality.

Most of my fondest memories of growing up as a cajuns fan are from watching games in the cajundome. There were a number of years my dad and I didn't miss a game. We may have not had the best records in random years but we played exciting ball and the dome rocked!. Basketball is honestly why I'm a Cajun fan to this day and the lack of excitement in the program now makes me sad.

Its very sad. We need an ambitious, fiery young coach to come in and energize the fanbase with an exciting style of play, not a coach that fake fights other coaches.

With all due respect to softball and baseball they should never be as important as they are. It's a reflection of how badly our administrations have missed the boat.

I'm not saying they should be less, I'm saying MBB must be more important than we have made it.

When those two sports consistently break the Top 25 and compete for championships, fans will naturally flock to it. Both baseball and softball have also created their own traditions within the fan base. Also, the gameday atmospheres for both sports are one of the most intense in the entire country.

If basketball can make similar runs in the dance like those two sports, watch fans flock to the Cajundome like old times.

You’re making a case for excellence where it already exists. Of course the problem is not with them. The problem is that the university isn’t doing what needs to be done for basketball.

Regardless of success softball and baseball are garnish in the NCAA world. They don’t move the needle period. Doesn’t mean either can’t be your favorites. But in the NCAA they’re afterthoughts.
