At the end of week that opened with a big loss, UL coach Billy Napier would not confirm the promotion of safeties coach Patrick Toney to defensive coordinator or the hiring of former graduate assistant Austin Armstrong to coach inside linebackers.

But all indications continue to point to that as the plan to replace exiting defensive coordinator Ron Roberts, who has left the Ragin’ Cajuns after two seasons to become defensive coordinator at Baylor.
