Having Wilson and Russell back made a huge difference. At that they were on a minutes restriction. To me Wilson was the main factor. Even though he only scored nine points, he impacts almost every offensive possession as he can get to the rim on most teams which opens things for the other guys. Jalen Johnson's career high of 27 points does not happen without Wilson on the floor. Positives were strong defense (6 blocks and 7 steals) and very good free throw shooting. Negatives were the continued problem of too many baskets at the rim not being finished and still too many turnovers. We had 14 which is somewhat normal but some of them were simply lack of focus. We probably have to be under 10 on most nights to have success. Highlight of the night was a deep corner three knocked down by walk on Mason Aucoin at the first half buzzer. Play sort of broke down and he ended up with the ball without expecting it off a scramble. Did not think about it and let it fly with confidence. Grew a 6 point lead to nine which gave a comfort going into half. Not sure where we go from here but for one night the guys can breath a sigh of relief. Jay Walker says considering the circumstances the team has dealt with any victory is a cause for celebration. Glad for those guys that they can do so at least for one night.
No doubt. They seem to go up without having good body control while trying to finish at the rim. Even Wilson did not finish a few times when given the opportunity. I attribute that somewhat to rust as he had gone almost three weeks without practicing before yesterday. Coaches felt that having ability to have a true 5 on 5 practice helped them prepare for the game. That has to be a positive.
From what I understand shout out to Jonathan Stove for filling in at practice. He’s becoming a good ambassador for our program.
I did not see this until now. P. J. Hardy did a yeoman's job on Ertel. Held him to one field goal in the second half.

Should never lose to Monroe in anything. Glad we didn’t. Ertel didn’t impress me at all, but that might be due to Hardy’s defense. It was nice to see somewhat of a pulse in the fanbase last night.
