We hear what you are saying. How do you not get excited about the brand of baseball that is back? As a fan, how do you not think that we can get back to the 2013 - 2014 success?

Nothing tells me that this will NOT be a fun ride. Very sad the way we got back on the ride. But I'm convinced that it will be a fun ride.

How about we give this coach and our players a chance before delving into the negative. He will determine if the risk/reward is worth it. This style of play terrifies defenses. Sometimes the reward comes later just from showing the willingness to take the risk earlier. Anticipation sometimes kills defensive success.

What makes this style of play effective is teams want to play back to guard against the hard hit ball, but also want to play up to guard against the basepath mayhem.

2013 - 76 steals
2014 - 109 steals

2019 - 93 steals

In the "aggressive" years of 2013 and 2014 the most steals any single player had was 22 (Jace Conrad). Last year, considered "not as aggressive" Hayden Cantrelle had 28 steals. Anxious to see if he's able to significantly increase that number under Deggs' aggressive system. I realize that steals are not the only stat factored in (hit and run, bunt and run) but still interesting.
